AHIB-1-PI-2390 Collinee 22330 Gorgeous 3 bedroom village house with delightful little sun trap courtyard garden
For me, this charming village house is the perfect package. The interior has style and character and is light, bright and hugely welcoming. The outside space is big enough if you have green fingers but easily manageable if gardening isn't your thing. Either way, it is a wonderful bonus for a village house. Other bonuses here include easy, free parking at the front of the house, a large storage shed and mains drainage, so no septic tank worries!
On the ground floor you have a study with lots of natural light from the glazed door and window at the front. Through to the large lounge/dining room, packed with character, especially the granite inglenook fireplace with its wood pellet burning stove. No heavy logs to chop and carry for this house! The lounge also has a lovely window seat, a great place to sit and look out at the comings and goings of the village. A step up into the kitchen, also a sunny space thanks to the large skylight and a side window with a view of the lower courtyard. There is also a very handy pantry next to the kitchen. A shower room and separate toilet complete the downstairs rooms. Look out for the interesting original tiles on most of the ground floor.
Up the original wooden stairs. All the rooms at this level still have their original wooden floors, too. There are two double bedrooms, the larger featuring another impressive fireplace, complete with a pretty Petit Godin stove. Both have beamed ceilings and large windows to the front, overlooking the church, and benefit from wooden shutters inside. There is also a toilet on this floor and the generous landing area adds to the sense of space.
The stairs carry on to the top floor and the third bedroom, cosy under the eaves, with its exposed A frame. This is a lovely, tranquil space which has the potential to be used as an extra sitting, music or hobbies room – although it makes a wonderful bedroom, too.
Out to the courtyard now, through the hallway at the rear of the house. The lower level is secluded, with attractive hanging planters and a selection of kitchen herbs. The arbour with grape vine at the far end provides a shaded seating area on a hot day. A door to one side offers access to a large, dry storage shed for tools, bikes and wood pellets for the stove, as well as the washing machine and tumble drier and the gas supply for the cooker.
Up the steps into the top garden, a real suntrap and a delightful, scented space with its lavender hedge, roses and bench surrounded with honeysuckle. There is a strawberry patch and a gravelled seating area, all making an oasis of calm and tranquillity.
Collinee is a large village which meets all day-to-day requirements. Banks, chemist, schools, a medical centre, supermarket and importantly, a superb bakery, are all a short stroll away and the Library, Cultural Centre, Sports centre and Music school are also within a stone's throw.
Within a short drive you will find Brittany's famous beaches, lakes, medieval towns, and much, much more. There is easy access as well to a selection of ferry ports, & airports.
The current owner will include most of the furniture that fits with the style of the house, at no extra cost to the buyer, should it be wanted.
So, that sums this house up. Although really it doesn't. Because there are so many small touches here. Things that catch the eye, little nooks, the way the light falls at certain times, the rhythm of the village outside. It's special, a house that really needs to be seen, so please, come and see it soon
